How does an individual yoga therapy session differ from a group class?

Individual sessions are geared specifically to a client’s personalized needs based on goals we co-create together. After a thorough health history intake, I design movement, breath, and mindfulness interventions to address unique health and healing concerns, which I guide and support the client through. Our work may also include education, coaching, and homework practices.

Group classes address the health and healing practices of betrayed partners in a more general way. I offer the same kind of practices as in individual yoga therapy sessions, but they are done in community with other partners. Yogis are always encouraged to listen to their own innate wisdom and practice in a way that feels appropriate in their own bodies. In group classes, I speak to themes of creating a sense of safety and stability, recognizing and processing emotions, and releasing stress and tension stored in the mind, body, and spirit.

I’m not flexible and have no yoga experience. Can I still take this class?

Yes! All my classes are accessible to anyone regardless of flexibility or experience. Modifications are offered and encouraged! You will build strength, flexibility, and emotional resilience as you practice. Yoga can help to relieve tension in the mind and body regardless of where an individual’s practice may be. Additionally, these classes are being offered exclusively as healing-focused practices taught from a trauma-informed perspective. It is a safe space to meet yourself wherever you are in the moment. If you have injuries and/or physical limitations, however, please consult your physician. Private sessions may better meet your needs than group classes.

How should I prepare for class?

Yoga is done barefoot in comfortable clothes that you can move in easily on a yoga mat that prevents your hands and feet from slipping

Two yoga blocks, two blankets, a bolster, and a strap are recommended props for each class. Investing in these items will allow you to support yourself and gain the most benefit from the practice. You may also use household items such as sturdy books, pillows and blankets, and a belt.

Please log on at least 5 minutes before class begins to get settled and checked in. Avoid eating a heavy meal 1-2 hours before class and have some water to sip through the practice.
